Best Art Party: State of the Art at the Cigar City Theater Mix one part scenester, one part large open warehouse and a little liberal thinking and you’d have April’s State of the Art. No other party has utilized the Cigar City Theater as well, and the fashion show was to die for. Not to mention, the first piece of art you saw when you walked in was a live piece representing the bloody after math of adultery. It was edgy and made art feel rebellious again. -Tampa Bay Times-

Tampa Bay Times had to say about the State of The Art V.2

“With the amount of fun and craziness going on, I hesitate to call State of the Art v.2 at The Roosevelt this Saturday (4/25/09) an art show. It felt like more of an amalgamation of many different styles all based on one singular idea. Expression. Not only was the art cool and outrageous, but the bands were kicking and the women smoking! Taking cues from last year’s State of the Art, the show was based on getting as much in as possible. In my time at the show, I saw two DJ’s, two bands, four examples of live-art that were socially stimulating, one live painting and one fashion show packed with lovely ladies. That’s not even mentioning the guests in attendance that ran the gamut from casual art show fan to the scantily- dressed and eccentric women. All in all, there was not a moment that went by that there wasn’t something to glue your eyes to. If you’ve ever said that you’d never go to an art show because they’re stuffy and boring, do yourself a favor and check out the pictures after the jump. I guarantee that you’ll be checking the listings for the next show at The Roosevelt, if only to come and join the party that you’ve been missing out on.” -tbt-

THE  1ST GREEN PECHA KUCHA 1&2

Pecha Kucha is a presentation format in which content can be easily, efficiently and informally shown, usually at a public event designed for that purpose. It was devised in 2003 by Astrid Klein and Mark Dytham of Tokyo's Klein-Dytham Architecture (KDa), who sought to give young designers a venue to meet, network, and show their work. They took the name Pecha Kucha  "peh-chak-cha") from a Japanese term for the sound of conversation ("chit-chat"). The event, has spread virally around the world. More than 170 cities now host such events and project 3.0 did the first biofueled one.
